Solid or near-solid. A serial number with just one digit like 44444444 is a solid serial number. One with seven of the same digit (like 44434444) is near-solid. The odds of getting a pure solid bill are about 11 million to one (there is no 00000000 bill). It's a little over a million to one for near-solid bills. The numbers in the table are the first and last notes printed in the given month for the given FRB. Colors indicate notes printed at Washington, DC or Fort Worth, TX. All serial numbers in this series begin with M. Serial numbers above 96000000 are not used; thus for example ML96000000A is followed by ML00000001B. A unique combination of eleven numbers and letters appears twice on the front of the note. Each note has a unique serial number. The first letter of the serial number corresponds to the series year. A “star” suffix is used to identify notes that serve as replacements during the production process. Depending on the rarity of your bill’s serial number, it could be worth a crazy amount of money — when we checked eBay on Sept. 27, 2017, we found dollar bills with fancy serial numbers listed for as much as $550.
