- Apr 20, 2016 - driver, go to device manager, click on Unknown device, Update drivers.
- Manually Uninstall XBOX 360 Controller For Windows 6.0.5221.0 with Build-in Uninstaller Most computer programs are installed with its build-in uninstaller that can also help uninstall the program. * Click Start menu and move your mouse to All Programs.
- However, I cannot seem to permanently uninstall the Xbox 360 driver software. Everytime I reinsert the controller, Windows automatically reinstalls the software. (I even deleted the original executable for Microsoft's driver software, but it still somehow reinstalls itself.).

Ages ago I plugged a fake PS3 controller which installed a Plug-And-Play driver labeled as 'PLAYSTATION(R)3Conteroller', yup, including the typo.
DL original W7 x64 friver from M$ site (on 8.1, 10 skip this step - driver already embedded), start install, when Win say that @cant find driver, go to device manager, click on Unknown device, Update drivers. _search on this PC_ choose from list already installed, Common Controller (Microsoft) for Windows classes, Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver. As soon as i install the 'XBOX 360 controller driver' from this software, windows tries to reach for windows update and update the driver. It fails (even if i cancel) and i'm left with a PS3 controller in device manager, and a nonfunctioning XBOX 360 controller with a yellow mark. Nothing shows up in usb game controllers window. Method 2: Update your Xbox 360 controller driver automatically If you don’t have the time, patience or skills to update your driver manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy. Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it.
Now whenever I connect an original controller this fake driver takes it's place, making it impossible to work properly.
If I uninstall this driver in the 'Device Manager' there's no 'Delete' option and it will come back to life once I reconnect the controller. If I uninstall and manually delete the driver files (hidclass.sys, hidparse.sys and hidusb.sys) they will still return when the controller is connected again.
In the Device Manager it shows up as 'HID-compliant game controller'.
Thank you

With Device Remover I was able to get rid of the fake driver completely, afterwards I installed the correct driver.
